Our begginers guide to hosting playdates!

Keeping toddler entertained is no easy task, but hosting a playdate for your child’s friends can definitely be one way around it; the kids will keep each other entertained!

One extra pro here is that you can drink your coffee in peace or even have a nice sit-down chitchat with the other parents while the kids play, screen free, guilt free. Now you have yourself a win-win situation!

Here’s our beginners’ guide to preparing for playdates that will make you a playdate ninja/host:

SNACKS!

We all know toddlers eat best when in groups, so this should be the perfect opportunity to bring in those chopped fruits and veggies with a side of yogurt or peanut butter dip.

    Prepare your child

Your child will probably serve as the playdate host too, so it’s a great idea to well prepare him/her for his role. Here’s a great chance to practice socializing and sharing, which brings us to the next point…

      Choose the displayed toys carefully!

It’s a good idea to bring out toys that invite group playing and sharing. Interactive toys like mimi’s busy toys are great for sharing.

        Pro tip:
If there’s a toy that you know will be too hard for your child to share with their guest, put it away.
        Keep playdates SHORT!

Toddlers get cranky if over tired so our rule of thumb is: playdates don’t need to be longer than an hour and a half or so.  End it on a good note.

          Most importantly!

ALWAYS show your guest where the potty is before you do anything else.

            Remember!

Playdates are for having FUN, so try not to stress over it too much or set very high expectations to how it should go. As long as all the children are safe and happy, you got yourself a successful one. Sit back, relax and have a good time yourself!
